What is a Co-author?
You can add other authors to your minibook. These added authors are called co-authors.
There are two ways to add them: 1) directly when creating the cover of the minibook, or 2) by going to MY – Purchase & Settlement – Shared author rights. In other words, you are sharing your author rights.
A co-author has the authority to add, edit, delete, or rearrange pages in your minibook. They can even edit the cover.
Of course, even if you share such authority, it’s a good idea to discuss in advance how far each co-author’s control will go. Otherwise, your original writing may be altered unintentionally.
When you add a co-author, you must decide how to share the revenue. Since author rights are being shared, this is essential. You can even set the share to 0%, and it can be modified later. When the minibook is sold, the revenue is automatically distributed according to the set ratio.
Sharing Author Rights and Revenue
Add a Co-author for Promotion or Better Translations
Would you like help promoting your minibook? You can add that person as a co-author. The added co-author will promote your minibook and share in the revenue as compensation. It’s a win-win.
Need help improving a foreign language translation? Not quite satisfied with your AI agent’s quality? You can add a native speaker as a co-author. They improve the translation and receive a share of the revenue. Again, it benefits both sides.
How do you find such people? At the bottom of the cover of your published minibook, there will be a note saying you’re looking for help with promotion or translation. If someone reads it and sends you a message, that’s your person. You can then add them as a co-author and set the revenue ratio.
Finding Co-authors Publicly: Open minibook
Want to add a co-author but don’t know anyone? Use the Open minibook option. This lets you slowly and publicly search for the right co-author.
To do this, simply select the “open book” option when creating the cover of your minibook. Once published, a section will appear at the bottom of the cover showing that you’re recruiting co-authors.
If someone applies to become a co-author, you can accept or delete their request. Be sure to set the revenue share ratio. Once published as an Open minibook, you cannot undo the option, so choose carefully.
Joining Someone Else’s Open minibook as a Co-author
If you want to join someone else’s Open minibook, click the Apply for authorship button at the bottom of their minibook cover and leave a message.
If the owner accepts, your profile image will appear at the bottom of the cover as a co-author. Clicking it will show a list of all co-authors. You can also go to MY – My Journey – Shared author rights minibooks to view that minibook. From then on, you can freely co-author it.
Wondering about the revenue share ratio? Go to MY – Purchase & Settlement – Shared author rights to check. The ratio can be adjusted through mutual agreement. When the minibook is sold, revenue is distributed automatically according to the current ratio.
