Q) What are publishing rights?

Publishing rights are the right of the person who publishes a minibook to modify the content of the minibook and to keep any profits from it.

The publisher of a minibook has the right.

Q) What is the transfer of publishing rights?

You are granting the publishing rights of your minibook to a third party.

The third party can be an individual or a legal entity.

The assignee has the same publishing rights as the assignor.

This means that they can make changes to the content of the minibook, and they have the right to keep any profits.

Q) How do the assignor and assignee share in the profits?

If you’re granting publishing rights, you’ll need to negotiate with the third party to determine what percentage of the profits will be split between you and the third party.

You can set the percentage in YouBook(see below).

After that, YouBook will pay out any profits from the sale of the minibook based on the percentage.

Q) In what cases can I transfer?

Scenario 1: An author publishes a minibook but finds it difficult to promote it to the public.

In this case, the author transfers the publishing rights to a third party (e.g. a publisher).

The third party will publicize the book to ensure that it sells well and then share the profits with the author.

In this case, the third party can be a publisher too, but it can also be a famous influencer or an ordinary individual.

Scenario 2: The author has published, but is vulnerable to foreign languages and foreign markets.

In this case, the author assigns the publishing rights to a third party (for example, a foreign publisher).

The third party polishes the translation into the foreign language and promotes it so that it sells well.

The profits are split between the third party and the author.

Of course, the opposite of this is also possible, where you own the publishing rights to a minibook published by a foreign author.

You negotiate with the author, and then polish and promote the book in your native language.

You can split the profits with the foreign author.

Q) What rights does the assignee have?

The assignee has the same rights as the author.

This means that they can make changes to the content of the published minibook, and they can also profit from its sale.

Of course, you’ll need to negotiate with the assignor to split the profits.

Note that the assignee cannot transfer the publishing rights back to anyone else.

Q) Can I cancel an assignment?

Once the publishing rights are transferred, they cannot be canceled.

The assignee will have the publishing rights to the minibook forever.

Q) What if there is a dispute between the assignor and assignee?

If a dispute arises between the assignor and assignee, it should be resolved by mutual agreement.

YouBook does not get involved in disputes.

Q) How do I transfer publishing rights?

In the app, at the top of the screen – Your photo – Order settlement – Account information – Select a minibook – Select a language – Tap on a third party (such as a publisher) – Enter their email. Don’t forget to set the revenue sharing so that the profits will be split between you and the third party.

The user of that email will then have the publishing rights.
